It's always nice to see your work being recognised, and last week Randwick Council, one of our local government clients – was awarded a Merit Award for Corporate Sustainability Excellence in Local Government. They achieved this through the use of an Extranet system that we support and host for them.
Starting with a proof of concept demonstration we enabled Randwick to quickly create an on-line “shared environment” that enabled them to partner with Temora Council in the annual LGMA Management Challenge. The Extranet enabled team members from both Councils to overcome the issues of distance (Temora is 450 kilometres from Randwick) and retain an integrated collaborative work space.
The team - the Temwick Tuskers went on to both win the NSW Management Challenge and place 2nd in the Australasian Management Challenge. The Tuskers enthusiastically endorsed the Extranet as being easy to use by even those with limited technical skills, and significantly contributing to their success.
Randwick Council had a strict set of requirements when they come to us, including need for the Extranet to be manageable by “non-technical” people and require as little training as possible. Utilising Open Source and Open Standards based technologies we were able to meet all the Council's requirements including being able to launch the Extranet within 24 hours of the okay being given.
Randwick and Temora Councils are looking to expand their use of the Extranet to meet new challenges and we look forward to supporting them in that journey.
