LocGov2.Au Report

Right now I'm putting together a proposal for an annual or bi-annual report into the takeup and attitudes towards LocGov2.0 in Australia.

The takeup of Gov2.0 technologies and practices amongst the Australian Local Government Sector has been spotty and limited.  While there has been a movement towards automating form submissions, very few Councils are taking advantage of the other technologies and services to assist them in developing new ways of serving their consituents.

This report aims to delve into the reasons for the lack of uptake. We will be examining the following areas:

  • The level of understanding within the Local Government sector of Gov2.0 Technologies, Services and Theory amongst both the senior management layer and elected representatives.
  • The experience of those Councils who have attempted to build Gov2.0 services and what reaction they've had from their constituents
  • Attitudes towards "Gov2.0 Consultants" from within the Local Government Sector
  • Attitudes towards Internal vs External Development
  • Attitudes towards Public Service Information and third party services that are built upon it.
  • What web2.0/Gov2.0 tools are being used currently, either Internally or in a Public Facing service.

I would love to hear if there is any interest in this sort of project out there.
